Associate lecturer for SEO and search engine marketing

The lecturer.

Teaching is not a side project for me, it is quality control: students ask exactly the questions you stop asking yourself once you are deep in daily business.

What the content covers

Search engine optimisation and paid search, digital strategy development, measurability and web analytics, and increasingly the question of what generative answer engines mean for organic visibility.

On top of that comes a topic that textbooks rarely cover: how do you justify a marketing decision when the data is incomplete? In practice that is the normal case, not the exception.

A personal connection

I took my own master's degree at Danube University Krems, in the Online Media Marketing programme. Teaching where you studied yourself sharpens your sense of what actually sticks in a lecture hall.

Further supervision work

I supervise students on SEO project work and theses and act as a mentor in the Rookies programme of Marketing Club Österreich as well as at GrowthMentor.

Frequently asked

About teaching.

Do you take on further teaching assignments?
In principle yes, provided it fits alongside four existing teaching posts and daily business. Part-time formats with a practical focus work best.
How does your teaching differ from corporate training?
Teaching puts more weight on context and method: why something works and how to justify a decision. Corporate training focuses on direct application to your own concrete projects.
Do you supervise theses?
Yes, in digital marketing and SEO. I took my own MSc at Danube University Krems and know how tedious the literature search can be in this field.
Which institutions do you teach at?
BFI Wien since 2017, UAS St. Pölten since 2018, Danube University Krems since 2019 and UAS Burgenland since 2022.
What exactly do you teach?
Search engine optimisation at three institutions, search engine marketing at Danube University Krems. Web analytics and digital strategy come in as sub-areas.
Are these full-time teaching posts?
No, all of them are alongside my main role. That role is Head of Digital Marketing at Swat.io.
How current is the material?
It is revised every semester. In a field where search engines change every year, anything else would be negligent.
Can I get in touch as a student?
Yes. A short message is enough for brief subject questions. For theses, send me the topic and your timeframe.
Do you also give guest lectures?
Yes, within existing courses at other institutions. Four to six weeks of lead time are helpful.
What is the difference between a lecturer and an associate lecturer?
In practice hardly any. The label depends on the institution. Both mean teaching alongside a main job, without an employment contract.
