FAQ

All questions.
All answers.

What clients, event organisers and universities ask most often. Collected and answered without evasion.

01

Working together.

What can I book Florian Hieß for?
Three things: consulting and implementation in online marketing focused on SEO and GEO, performance marketing and AI in marketing, workshops and training for teams, and talks at conferences and company events.
Do you work alone or with a team?
Both. Consulting, strategy and talks are handled by me personally. For larger implementation projects, the team at Digital Wings GmbH backs me up with a network covering development, design and analytics.
Do I hire you personally or Digital Wings?
Talks, training and teaching assignments go through me personally. Online marketing implementation projects run through Digital Wings GmbH. There is a team behind it and the contractual basis is properly set up.
Which languages do you work in?
German is my native language and the one I write most sharply in. I work in English at business level. Enough for talks, workshops and consulting with international teams.
Which companies is this a good fit for?
Mainly e-commerce, tourism and SaaS. Wherever search visibility translates directly into enquiries, bookings or revenue. For talks and training, the industry matters far less.
Do you handle implementation or only consulting?
Both are possible. On smaller mandates I advise and your team implements. On larger projects the Digital Wings team takes over implementation, with me as your fixed point of contact.
Do you work internationally?
Yes. International SEO with multilingual websites has been part of my daily work since 2012, with projects across more than 35 countries.
Are you open to employment?
I am not actively job hunting. I work full time as Head of Marketing at Swat.io and, after ten years, still enjoy the challenges of leading in a company of around 50 people. Alongside that I am co-managing director of Digital Wings with my wife Romana. I am bookable for talks, training, teaching assignments and consulting mandates, and open to interesting conversations.
What is your main job?
Head of Digital Marketing at Swat.io in Vienna, since December 2016, where I lead a team of seven. Digital Wings is the second business, which I run together with my wife Romana.
Do you work alongside existing agencies?
Yes. In many cases the most useful role is that of a second opinion: reviewing what the existing agency delivers and formulating the right questions for the next meeting.

02

Talks.

How much lead time do you need for a talk?
For a tailored session, ideally four to six weeks. That lets me adapt the content to your audience and industry. Shorter notice works with an existing talk, as long as the date is free.
Do you adapt the content to our event?
Yes, that is the normal case. I ask about audience, prior knowledge and objectives in advance and build the talk around that. There are no off-the-shelf slide decks.
What topics do you speak about?
Personal branding on LinkedIn and corporate influencers, search engine optimisation in practice, and performance marketing and budget planning. All of it from live projects, including the parts that did not work.
Which formats are possible?
Keynote or impulse talk of 20 to 45 minutes, talk with Q&A of 45 to 60 minutes, plus participation in or moderation of panels.
Do attendees get materials?
Yes. Every talk comes with materials covering the key points and the necessary background, so the takeaways stay actionable after the event.

03

Training & teaching.

How large can the group be?
For workshops with hands-on work, up to about twelve people works best. That leaves room for individual questions. Pure impulse and fundamentals formats also work with larger groups.
Does the team need prior knowledge?
No, I adjust the level. Beforehand I check with you where the group stands, so that neither fundamentals are missing nor familiar ground is repeated.
Do we work on our real projects?
Yes, and that is explicitly encouraged. Working on your own pages, campaigns and data delivers far more than constructed exercises.
Which topics do you cover in training?
SEO fundamentals, technical SEO, Google Ads, conversion optimisation, web analytics and personal branding for corporate influencers.
Do you take on further teaching assignments?
In principle yes, as long as it fits alongside daily business. Part-time formats with a practical focus work best.
Do you supervise theses?
Yes, in digital marketing and SEO. I wrote a master's thesis on link building and risk management myself.

04

Pricing & process.

What does working together cost?
It depends on scope. I lay out pricing in a modular proposal rather than quoting flat rates that end up not fitting. Tell me briefly what you need and you will get a realistic estimate.
Does a first conversation cost anything?
No. An initial conversation to work out whether and how working together makes sense is free.
How quickly will I get an answer?
Usually within one working day. If it takes longer, it is because of a training day or an event. You will hear back right after that at the latest.
What should the enquiry contain?
What it is about, the timeframe and the goal. For talks, also date, location, audience and format. The more concrete the details, the more solid the answer.
How long until SEO shows results?
It depends on your starting point, the competition and how fast you implement. Technical issues can be fixed in weeks; content and authority topics take months. Anyone promising you position one in three weeks is selling you something.
Do you also do an analysis without implementation?
Yes. An SEO or performance audit with a prioritised list of measures is a common entry point. You can then implement it yourselves or carry on with someone else. That is what the list is for.
Are there minimum contract terms?
For ongoing SEO and performance work through Digital Wings, yes, usually twelve months. Shorter would not be serious: with SEO, six months is only just enough to see whether the direction is right. Talks and training are individual bookings.

05

What happens to my data from the contact form?
The details are used solely to handle your enquiry and are not passed on to third parties. Details are in the privacy policy.
Where do the facts on this website come from?
From publicly verifiable sources: the Austrian company register, imprints, the staff page of UAS St. Pölten and event organiser pages. Anything that cannot be verified is not listed here.
Was this website created with AI?
The code entirely, the texts as drafts based on researched sources. Every text was read, checked and approved by a person. Details are on the AI transparency page.
May AI systems use this content?
For reading and citing yes. The fact pages are built for exactly that. Crawlers that collect training material only are excluded in the robots.txt.
Is this website accessible?
By the provider's own assessment, largely conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. What was tested and which points remain open is set out in the accessibility statement, including the limits of that claim.
